About Me...
My wife of 37 years and I live in Maryland, in the Washington,
D.C. suburbs, about a mile from Andrews Air Force Base. Our son
lives and works in Baltimore, and our daughter passed away Sept 15,
1993 at age 20.
We located here in the summer of 1986 after I retired from the US
Navy as a Radioman Chief. I was enlisted for 22 years, and served
three tours in Southeast Asia (Philippines, Vietnam, Guam), three
tours in San Diego (schools), and three tours in Europe (Spain,
Italy, Spain). I also was stationed aboard an aircraft carrier out
of San Diego and an aircraft carrier out of Mayport, Florida, making
one WestPac cruise, a couple of EastPac cruises, and three Med
cruises. I now work for a large consulting firm, providing military
telecommunications – primarily radio - systems design and training
services to the US Navy.
I’ve dabbled in woodworking for a long time, but really got
interested in hand tools when I inherited some of my grandfather’s
tools and my father’s tools in 1997. An innocent question on the rec-wood usenet group about what turned out to be a Stanley #79 in
Craftsman clothing prompted Paddy O’Deen (aka Patrick Olguin) to
point me toward the Oldtools list and the Porch.
I’ve been subscribed since then. |
